Maggie has a recurring dream where she is trapped in a desert wilderness with Marge walking away in the distance. Marge is the only character from Springfield that Maggie is able to remember.

Understanding the story is not required indeed, but if you want to understand the story, then read Simpsons Fantasy V which I'm submitting to my DA (as well as putting it on TCB)

V happens to be the origin story. :P

You shouldn't need to, but some references to FF would be more clear if you've played them.

Just think of it as a story featuring lots of swordplay and magic. :P

Well, if there were chains attached to the Mage Mashers and to her arms they would kinda look like the Blades of Athens/Blades of Chaos =P
